Laurie Thompson

Dr. Laurie E. Thompson (Ed.D., Liberty University) has lived with a disability since a tragic car accident in 1982. She is a part-time professor for Anderson University’s College of Christian Studies, Anderson, SC. Laurie has written a university course, A Theology of Pain, Suffering, and Disability, that she teaches both in person and online. She also teaches Introduction to the Bible at Anderson University and is an Adjunct Professor at Liberty University for the Ed.D. program. Laurie has published her personal story on disability, Laurie’s Story: Discovering Joy in Adversity (2011), in addition to her most recent publication Disability-Inclusivity: Creating Awareness to Change the Current Trajectory (2025). She is passionate about teaching biblical principles and advocating for those impacted by disability. Laurie has been married to Chaplain Kevin Thompson (SCARNG) since 1991, and they have 3 adult children.
