Candice Coker

Candice Coker is a registered nurse, wife, and mother with more than fourteen years of experience in trauma care, critical care, nursing management, and nursing education. She earned her B.A. in Sociology from Baylor University and her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

After relocating from Texas to Mississippi in 2019, Candice transitioned from hospital nursing to caring for her son, Barrett, whose premature birth and medical needs reshaped her family’s journey. That experience sparked her passion for advocacy and community-building within the special needs world.

Candice is a founding parent and current President of The SPOT (Special Place for Others to Thrive), a nonprofit dedicated to creating inclusive spaces, connecting families with resources, and offering adaptive sports, sensory-friendly events, and educational support throughout East Mississippi.

Through The SPOT’s early consultation with Northcrest Baptist Church, Candice helped design and launch their sensory room—an effort that allowed her own family to resume corporate worship for the first time since becoming parents. She also played a key role in researching, developing, and launching Limitless, Northcrest’s special needs ministry rooted in Psalm 139:14. After eighteen months of volunteering, she now serves as the part-time Limitless Director, helping create safe, inclusive spaces where individuals of all abilities can worship and thrive.
